GCU Men's Hockey Tyout Camp is mandatory for all players looking to play for either our ACHA D1 or D2 team for the 2019-20 season. There is no additional cost for the tryout camp.
For the Saturday 8/31/19 and Sunday 9/1/19 portion of camp all players will be split into 4 teams of at least 2 goalies, 4 defensemen, and 9 forwards. Each team will skate in a 55 minute on-ice scrimmage against one other team during each of these two days. Camp roster size will be reduced down to the top 24 forwards, 12 defensemen, and 4 goalies at the conclusion of the Sunday scrimmages. Note: Players cut after the Sunday scrimmages are still being considered for the D2 team roster.
For the Monday 9/2/19 portion the remaining 40 players will skate in a 2 hour scrimmage game. All players skating on Monday are still being considered for the ACHA D1 team roster.
All players in this camp are being evaluated and considered for the ACHA D1 team first before selecting the D2 team roster from all remaining players after the D1 team roster has been finalized.
Team rosters will be announced as follows: (ACHA D1 Monday evening and ACHA D2 Tuesday evening)
In order to participate all players must be a registered GCU student; complete the Activeworks registration and paid at least the $75 deposit; complete their sports physical, and complete the concussion baseline test with our team Athletic Trainer (all new GCU athletes).
2019 Tryout/Main Camp Schedule:
Saturday, 8/31/19: (4 teams, A/B/C/D)
Sunday, 9/1/19: (4 teams, A/B/C/D)
Monday, 9/2/19: (Top 40 players - 2 teams)
Players will be placed onto a team for Saturday and Sunday based on their time of registration and will arrive to the rink at least an hour prior to their on-ice group time for player check-in where you will receive a jersey color and locker room assignment.
